Who Will Remember Me? (The Journeyman’s Lament)

Headlights are burning my eyes
And the highway seems rougher tonight
I’ve sung all the songs I know twice,
But the end of my road’s not in sight

My body cries out for some rest
But my mind just won’t let me slow down
I’ve been with the worst and the best
And I’ve seen every part of every town

(chorus)
But who will remember me after I’m gone?
Who will be singing my songs?
Who’s gonna say that they’ll miss me one day?
And where did I ever belong?

Somewhere tonight there’s a lady
I can just see her face through the rain
And even though I haven’t met her
I can still feel the pain just the same

Maybe one day I will find her
And my wandering days will all end
But until that day I’ll just roll on
And the highway remains my best friend

(chorus)
