Packing to Leave

When you were packing to leave did you consider
that you might not return?
When you were packing to leave did you consider
that as you left the bridge began to burn?

Isn’t it funny the way small things can hurt you
when you see them through angry eyes?
Aren’t you sorry today the way things turned out,
and you never even knew the reasons why?

Some people got a way of leaving
Say, “It’s over” and they leave ’em grieving
At least they’ve got a reason when they go
But some people just drift apart
Never knowing when the leaving starts
Until they find they’re powerless to stop the flow

When you were packing to leave did you consider
that you might not return?
When you were packing to leave did you consider
that you might not return?
