This classic gospel/folk song has been interpreted in many ways. I first heard the song not in church, but sung by Michael Parks in the great old TV series Then Came Bronson. Here’s my take on it.

One More Year
Tomorrow (May 28, 2017) is my 34th wedding anniversary. This one’s for my wife, Tina, to say “thank you” for sharing her life with me.
One more year has come and gone
One more trip around the sun
And when all is said and done
I’m still in love with you
You could claim it’s been ideal
I could say it’s all been easy
But the life we share is real
And love is what we choose
A tapestry of love is woven
From threads of trust and fear
And as we watch the image sharpen
I’ll still ask for one more year
So much of life we’ve walked together
The path that’s brought us here
But when our sunsets fade to darkness
I’ll still ask for one more year
A brand new circle just begun
We can’t know what lies ahead
But one thing you can count on
I’m still in love with you
Summertime
This classic melody by George Gershwin has been covered so many times–for good reason. It’s a great song that lends itself to many interpretations, and here’s mine.
Leader of the Band by Dan Fogelberg
For Father’s Day–one of my favorite Dan Fogelberg songs. He wrote this for his father, and I read in an interview with him that if he could have only written one song this would have been it.

I’ve always really liked this song. I first heard it performed on the banjo by Steve Martin in a small show on a college campus back in the 70’s–this was before he was STEVE MARTIN. Later I heard it on a John Denver album and decided to learn it. I heard somewhere that Murphey’s inspiration for the song was St. Francis of Assisi, but I haven’t been able to verify that. Makes sense, though.
It’s a great song that carries an even more urgent message now than it did forty years ago. Happy Earth Day!
Tomorrow They Won’t Remember My Name
For all my buddies (the ones I know and the ones I don’t know) who play music because they love it.
Treasure Chest of Loving
Packing to Leave by Pete Marcantel
Some people just drift apart, never knowing when the leaving starts
Until they find they’re powerless to stop the flow
