Doggone You Girl

Doggone you girl you’ve gone and left me one more time
And here I am at Percy’s Bar just drinking myself blind
I swear I’ve never met a girl that’s harder to please
Set ’em up again, Barkeep, and somebody help me off my knees

Now, she said she didn’t mind the card games that lasted until 4
And the whiskey I sometimes over drink never bothered her before
She said as far as she’s concerned I can do just what I please
And now she’s gone and left me; it’s the damnedest thing I’ve seen

Doggone you girl you’ve gone and left me one more time
And here I am at Boudreaux’s Bar just drinking myself blind
I swear I’ve never met a girl so hard to understand
I’ve done my best, I’ve sacrificed as much as any man

Just because I’m sometimes gone for two days in a row
And just because I’m sometimes seen with another girl in tow
She’ll say that I don’t love her, she’ll yell and scream and cry
But any fool could see I do, I’m living with her, ain’t I?

Doggone you girl you’ve gone and left me one more time
And here I am at Eddie’s Bar just drinking myself blind, blind, blind
I swear I’ve never met a girl with less than twice your brains
Set ’em up again till I forget old what’s her name
