A Winter’s Day, a Fireplace and You

Does the glow from a fireplace
Still paint a smile upon your face
You know I see that lovely smile
Though you hide behind the miles

Does the warmth of the fire start
Somewhere deep inside your heart
Recalling memories of days
When the warmth was in my loving gaze

Do you think back when you’re blue
The way I sometimes do
To a winter’s day, a fireplace and you

Do you feel old heartstrings tug
When you hold that special coffee mug
To warm you when he’s not around
You still can hear that distant sound

Of the song, then our dance would start
Your ear pressed close to my pounding heart
And night would fade into the day
We’d never see it slip away

Though I see it through the years
I still see it through a tear
A winter’s day, a fireplace and you
